Back to what this board was ACTUALLY about (Beatles covers, in case you forgot), and I just heard a good one, live. I just got back from seeing Peter Frampton (haha) and he closed with a surprisingly good cover of 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps.' It was pretty awesome.
After the concert was over and I was walking away, I had another noteable Beatles' experience - I heard a very loud boom behind me and jumped around to see fireworks going off, and all of a sudden, they started to BLAST Revolution 1. I started jumping around and singing and the fireworks went off and it was fun.

I just thought of another cover I've always liked.. Joe Cocker's version of With A Little Help From My Friends. They used it as the theme for The Wonder Years, and I used to LOVE that show.

Oh yeah, I knew about that! I didn't watch that show, but I got to prove to my friends that they did, in fact, know a Beatles song

I remember listening to With A Little Help From My Friends, and thinking it sounded like the theme song, but not exactly. But now I know

i have the "I am Sam" soundtrack and they're all Beatle re-dos. They're very nice actually.

I just went on a bit of a downloading binge, as I tend to do, and tonight's theme was Beatles covers. Thanks to whoever, waaay up at the beginning of this thread, recommended Fiona Apple doing Across the Universe. It's awesome. You're welcome, Emma. And I think I'm going to have to invest in the "I Am Sam" soundtrack as well. Gosh, so much to buy...so little money. "Money! That's what I want..."

Incidentally, has anyone seen that movie? It's... wow. I love it.

Yes, it's awesome... and it has a whole other level of meaning for Beatles fans, I think, that you would miss out on otherwise. The whole thing just oozes.... I don't know how to say it except, the spirit of The Beatles? Maybe, I'm not sure... All the scenes in Sam's apartment are amazing because John's everywhere on his walls... I got the feeling in that movie that John was, you know, watching over Sam. Protecting him. I wonder if that's what the director was going for. Maybe I read too much into things. I get sappy when it comes to Beatles.
