BEATLES 4 KIDS
The boys from Liverpool have never been forgotten after they brought about that musical revolution in the 60s.
John, Paul, Ringo and George marked a whole generation with their genius and continue to be the models and the inspiration for bands that have appeared since that era.
But what about the youngsters today who weren’t lucky enough to be around back then? And the teens who hear something about them, like them, but haven’t had access to the Beatles’ whole opus?
It was with this in mind that we decided to build a new bridge between the Beatles and the newer generations.
We created the children’s characters, BEATLES 4 KIDS.
With animated cartoons and video-clips in which new and striking images of the Beatles transformed into kids would present their classic compositions; books and magazines would provide graphic backup; and toys, games and other licensed products would complement the exposure of this new image.
We began to create the project in 1990 while our people in the international area contacted the copyright holders (the Beatles themselves plus Yoko Ono) to obtain a contract that would permit us to develop the project worldwide.
In England, our contact was with Neil Aspinal of Apple and the lawyers who represent the Beatles, Lenono and even Michael Jackson, who holds the rights to the songs that marked the start of the Beatles’ career.
In the United States, Connie Boucher of Determined, the company that represents licensing for the Beatles, went ahead enthusiastically with Mauricio’s concept, which would mean more products for licensing of the trademark.
Paul, Ringo, George and Yoko were contacted.
The answer after some time was that just one of them had vetoed the project.
Which one that was is still unknown to us.
Sean Lennon, son of John and Yoko, during a dinner in New York, received BEATLES 4 KIDS drawings and a color animation cel of the figure of John.
Pleased with the present and planning to decorate his room with the picture, Sean was only worried about one thing: "When I get home, my mom is going to want this drawing for herself!"
BEATLES 4 KIDS project was created to last 4-ever, like the Beatles.
