Icee and I have been discussing the situation we have here. We haven't had an admin around in some time, and ever since the boards upgraded, all of our mod powers are gone. Now we've discovered that newbies can register, but not post until an admin grants them access. That's just not fair and contributing to the fact that we have so few members that actually post. The mod problem is an even bigger one, because if a big ordeal arises (such as, say, the JL one from a few months ago), none of us can do anything about it except asking nicely for the troublemaker to stop. Yeah right.
So, we need to know what everyone feels we should do about it. Our options are, basically, to sit and wait until Cran comes back (IF she does, that is) and just hope that things run smoothly until then, or... we can recreate LIB - a new one. It sounds unthinkable almost... but... honestly, what can we do? It's getting frustrating and just awful.
We need everyone's opinions so we can figure out what should be done. So... what to do?

I feel we can't keep trying to run a board with no admin, so I'm just going to wait for everyone's opinion on the subject. Do you say majority rules Emma?

I personally think that the recreation is not a half bad idea. I mean, no one would have to worry about the post count thing (because the admin can change it to whatever it was) and it would solve all our problems about the going without an admin thing. We would definitely get more active members.
Of coarse there is a downside to it also. The members that were already here, and may have become inactive would not really know about this and may become a bit.. confused, even if we post it somewhere. We wouldn't get quite as many members, because this site isn't linked to a successful site like the Let it Beatle site.
So I guess it's a win-win and a lose-lose situation.

We could start a thread here, telling people where the new board is, I guess when they join they do stick around for a couple of minutes and check out threads, so we could just start the same one on each of the boards. And I know when I was a lowly newb I never really read anything in these sections.. so I think, in the case that we did it, that we should make an announcement in the most visited threads.

But if not, I vote for recreating. Admin problems could cause some jealously, though. And I'd say we should have more than one, just in case we have a "Cran Situation" again.

Yeah, and with the admins, if we create a new LIB, then we'd have to not pick one, but more. Because we don't want to be in this situation again, right? It's all very messy. |
