For the record, I adore Yoko.
Carrying on the debate over the quotes Rivella posted on the Angry With Yoko thread in Penny Lane, the only thing I wanted to add to was the idea of John not wanting Yoko to talk to the others....
He could've had many reasons for this, the most obvious being that he really was a jealous guy. He's admitted this. He loved Yoko and didn't want other men to have a chance to talk to her.
Also, he wasn't getting along so well with them at this point, partly because of Yoko. I'm sure part of him was afraid that they would say something mean to her, and being in love with her, he would want to protect her from that. At least, that's my take on it.
Everyone feel free to post with your thoughts on Yoko.

Well i'm not saying that I've completly changed my view, but like I said: Icee made me se things differnetly. i'm not trying to blame this on my bad English but I think that's why I didn't understand things the right way. I don't want you all to get mad at me!!!

I'm TOTALLY not mad at you. By the way, do you have the link to the full interview with her from that magazine? I'd very much like to read it.

I dunno how I feel about Yoko. I mean, I used to DESPISE her, when I first was into them, cos everything I heard said, "She killed the Beatles, she must die! Rah!" But now I kinda pity her a bit. I mean, she really loved John, and she made him happy, and for this I feel every Beatles fan should respect her. And I really would hate to be in her shoes, dealing with... Dec 8...

Exactly, Lil. Beyond just thinking that she's a great and intelligent person, I feel awful for the poor woman. I couldn't be paid enough to be put in her shoes, with memories of such a horrible scene... and not just of anyone, of someone she loved so, so very much ... it's just... I often have an overwhelming urge to hug her.

I guess you kind of share the same veiw as me, I don't know what my opinion is of her, I mean I don't know much of her to judge her, but I do respect her alot with what she has had to put up with. I mean how horrible would it be to have thousands, even millions of people around the world believing that you are the reason for the break up of the biggest band to ever walk the earht. That's real heavy to carry on your shoulders, and she's dealing with it so well. And that's why I respect her so much.

Very true. And it's my opinion that the Beatles would have broken up soon anyway. They were falling apart, anyway. Yoko just showed up around the same time, but it was never her fault. They were all going off in different directions anyway- George was into India, Ringo was acting, John was doing really pyschedelic stuff...

I know this may be hard for some people to understand, but the Beatles well...despised, for lack of a better word, eachother right up at the time Yoko was really making an imapact on John's life. Abput 1970, the boys had seen eachother almost everyday for more than ten years. If I'm correct on my research, George was extremely angry at Paul until the day he died.
That, for all non-Beatle people, is the reason the Beatles broke up.
I had a huge fight with my best friend when we were babysitting once. I brought my Lennon Legend book to read, and I was looking a pic. of Yoko and out of the blue she says, "Ohh, I hate her. She broke up the Beatles! How can you even look at her, they're your favorite band!" I told her that the Beatles began to hate eachother (as I tell all of my non-Beatle friends/peers when they talk about how Yoko boke up the Beatles) but she would not give in, and kept insisting that Yoko broke up the boys. I asked her, "how the hell," (yeah, I was getting angry by this point) "do you think you're right when I'm the one who talks about and listens and looks at these four men every single day?" Needless to say, she snorted, rolled her eyes and I didn't say much to her for a few days.
I am extremely fond of Yoko, and I do everything to well...protect her from foolish people. I used to be the "she broke up the Beatles, what a bitch!" but after I realized that John and her were in love, same as Paul and Linda (my always-favorite couple) I changed my view. If people are going to say it's Yoko's fault, they might as well say it was Linda's fault, as well.
(Sorry for the rant. I feel really strong about the 'she broke up the Beatles' issue.)
