do people ever like tease you because you like the beatles? Or say I hate them just to make you mad? Sometimes my friends are like that, they know i love them so they say like "oh those hippies" or something really stupid. Am i alone?

Most of my friends don't like the Beatles but they know I'm a huge fan. They tease me with it, but that's in a fun way and I don't care. It annoys me when other people say that the Beatles are bad musicians or that they are old and making old music. Most of the bands now playing are huge fans of the Beatles themself.

I get teased alot, but because of my talent for sarcasm-in-a-second, I usually can get suprised looks on the teaser's face as I walk away singing a Beatles song. Sometimes if I'm really suprised, I resort to this;
*walk into class room* Jonathan: The Beatles suck! Lauren(me): You suck.
*walk into class room* Jonathan: John Lennon sucks! Lauren: You suck.

"Get 73 Million people to view your favorite band on tv and then we can talk?" Yeah, I get made fun of. My friends are all either punk pop or h&b/hip hop. They've learned to respect me though. Sometimes, they don't know what I'm talking about. I'll hear a Beatles reference on tv or slip one into a conversation. They just don't understand. That's why I love this forum so much (even though I'm like a ghost and don't post all that much)

I was never teased in HS or anything for loving the lads....
...but when I got to college it was more difficult. Most of my friends are Top 40 radio lovers, or they're into hip hop, ooorrr.....they only listen to punk.
But, the good thing is is they still respect me for my differences, as I respect them. And, since my close friends and I all have different tastes in music, we get to hear a lot of different stuff.

There's this one girl in particular who always makes fun of me liking the Beatles. It's usually just in fun (I think...) but I still don't like it. It's just the way she says it

That is one of the few ways that people can TRULY get on my nerves--either make fun of the Beatles, or make fun of me for liking them. Sadly, I get it all the time. I mean, yeah, they were this huge phenomenon, and I don't blame people for questioning something that was so well-liked. Except there was one little difference between the Beatle phenomenon and other peoples'--they (Beatles) were actually talented. How people can't SEE that is just a mystery to me. I got a week's worth of detention earlier this month for yelling at and smacking (on the arm) a guy who, on Dec. 8th, said he was glad that John was dead and 'good riddance to him.' I do not believe that yelling & violence (even the little bit that I shouldn't have, but did, use) is the answer to anything...I don't know what came over me that day. I bawled for an hour afterwards, because that is just not me. But John & The Beatles are such a huge part of me--as much as my lungs or liver or...something, and I cannot stand it when people make fun of them. Yes, I do accept that they have a right to their opinion--but they don't have to shove in my face in such a rude way. I mean, obviously the fact that I had John's face all over my shirt and had tears in my eyes should have told the little freak that said it that John is more than a musician to me. Grr....I hate that. I just cannot stand it. Whenever I get on this subject I have to rant about it for a while.

OMGB, i probably would have smacked him too...but i know whatcha mean the beatles are like the fine line (for me) between me being sane and insane sometimes i can just turn on a beatles album and crawl into a ball and just sit ( no i'm not insane) but i get really ticked when people say hurtful things about them a lot of Seniors like my shirts and think i'm cool but i'm not wearing them to be cool i'm wearing them because i respect their music and i don't go and make fun of other peoples music i may not like some stuff but i don't make fun of them infront of someone...specially if they love that band a lot

I've got two guys at work who like to tease me all the time with me liking the Beatles.
When Paul is in the papers and I get a scissor to cut it out, they always say that Paul is dead. And that John Lennon is really Paul McCartney. So paul was murdered in the 80's and...aaah what the%&$%^$& IT ISN'T EVEN FUNNY!!!!!
They don't mean any harm with it, but it annoys me.

I don't get made fun of, but people at my school know so little. It's extremely amusing, actually. Basically, they think they know about the Beatles, but really they only know about John. But they assign different parts of his personality to the others and think they know about all of them. It's great.

I was in the back of my english class looking at a book my teacher has on the top news stories in the past fifty years, and it has a bunch on dec 8 1980. So my friend and I were looking at it and feeling sad, and we were both wearing black, etc. And *he who shall remain nameless* made an offensive comment, I forget exactly what but it was along the lines of "no cares lil, he done got shot, he wasn't important" I wanted to KILL the bloody kid! The only thing that stopped me was the Mohatma... But I slip Beatles and Broadway references into everything... like my choreographer for pirates...

And I told them someone famous and importnant to me. And they were making fun of me saying, If hes famous then why dont we know who he is ? I wanted to scream and say that they dont know who he is because theyre stupid idiots who like rap and annoying music...
