It looks like someone has a problem with me. PM from ibrake4whales : Listen everyone, if this is the general perspective of me, then please let me know and I'll stop posting here. I realise I've rocked the boat a bit. You have a sort of 'beatles mafia' setup here, where you all guard the beatles like a boss, and if anyone disrespects the boss, they get whacked. I did not come here to kiss the backsides of the Beatles. I love the beatles, I love the music. But it's not an obsession like it is for some of you. Maybe it's my age, maybe it's the fact i'm a guy. I don't really know. I thought this being a beatles "discussion forum" that I would be able to discuss different views, ideas...and even debate...different views and ideas. I'm on a few different forums on the net. I even run my own Armenian forum, and we always welcome challanging debate, and even encourage it. It seems like anything I say ends up with talk of "banning" and me being kicked out of here, by a delusional and touchy girl. Don't worry, it wont get to that stage. I won't stick around any place I'm not wanted. ;D So yea, if you like, set up a poll or something: do you want kermit to leave?... or whatever. I dunno. It's not problem. There wont be any hard feelings. I'll respect everyones wishes. cheers,

I want Kermit to stay. I disagree with some of the things you've said about certain things, but that's cool - everyone has their own opinions. (The only time I had to mention it was with Rev9. Like I said, I totally respect that you don't like it, but you have to remember that some people do before you call it "not a song" and such. But you didn't have to get so defensive about it, I didn't mean any harm! ^__^) As far as debate goes, I'd be fine with it - only, when I tried to start one, you acted like I was ganging up on you! I mean, I can understand that some people (like me) can be really defensive but honest, I just wanted to express that just because you don't like it, doesn't mean everybody doesn't, you know? We've gotten ourselves into debates about things before, it's not like we're opposed to the idea, but you have to be open minded to our ideas too. I think we can work something out and I think you should stay.

Stay, Kermit. Really, we're not that easily offended. Sure, a few arguments that sprung up in the last few days ruffled some people's feathers, but that happens from time to time, especially when talking about something that everything involved feels very passionately about.
I just think the thing that made some people angry this time was that the dabate started going into personal attacks on each other, from both sides. That, at least, was where I started to feel the argument should stop. As defensive as we are about The Beatles, I think we're just as defensive about each other here. I am, anyway.
That's the only thing I'd advise everyone to be careful of. Don't take personal jabs at the person you're debating with. Stick to the topic. Debates from the past that come to mind here are a few different discussions about Yoko, and the recent Lost Respect thread in Strawberry Fields. All of those times, people had differing opinions but managed, I felt, not to end up feeling like opponents, because they never personally attacked each other. We're very mature like that. XD
Also, you know, there are certain times when it doesn't matter what points someone has to support their opinion, they aren't going to change a person's mind. I think this is what people fail to see sometimes, and get frustrated when they can't win an argument, or even sway someone a tiny bit, but they just keep trying anyway. When it becomes clear that that is what's happening, it's very important for people to know how to drop it. For real. Not claim to agree to disagree, then show up a few days later with another point they forgot to make before. Drop it means DROP IT.
Also, PMs are good. Use them. Sometimes not everyone on the board wants to read a five page argument where neither party is getting anywhere. So if things start heating up, but you feel like continuing, PM away. Just, if it ends badly, try not to be hostile in public threads. Hostility can really ruin a message board.
So. In conclusion, after faaaar too much rambling...
I certainly don't blame you for the recent arguments, Kermit. I don't blame anyone. I just think many, many people are bad at keeping a debate civil and definitely often don't know when it's time to stop. None of the above things are really directed specifically at you, they've actually been sitting in my head for the last few days, and suddenly just decided to come out, so, sorry about that. XD
Peace and love, peace and love, peace and love.

Thanks gals. ;D I think what it boils down to is a disagreement of definitions. what is an arguement to one person, is simply a conversation to another. In a forum the two intertwine very often. Obviously when someone gives their own personal view, it is naturally going to come across as one sided, close minded and even arrogant. That's what an opinion is isn't it? I might say that I think Rev 9 is a pile of crap or that Paul is a bastard, but none of this is inherently true or false because it's my own personal opinion, just like everybody elses. If anyone remembers, I did warn everyone that I might offend a few people, just before I made my comments about Paul. But a certain dutch girl *wink wink* decided she wasn't happy with my post (which she had every right to do) and dissected it using the "quote" button 50 million times...lol Thats when a discussion turns into a nit-picking fest. And that's when I start to turn a bit growly and sarcastic..hehe. I can't help it ;D ;D ;D So I'll see you around then

Figures I'm way late in welcoming new members...and it appears I've missed some drama, eh? Anyroad! I just wanted to say welcome to you, Kermit. I'm Patty, 23, from Ohio, and I've been missing from the board for a few days because my school work is getting out of control. And yes, I love John as well. OH! And I was surprized to see your Abbey Road pictures...although all of your pictures were beautiful. When I went to Abbey Road, the ground street sign had a lot more stuff on it then in the picture you took: I suppose they've put up a new one then. All right, I just wanted to pop in and say hi...lol. I better get ready for classes that I don't feel like going to.

lol...I was called Peppermint Patty when I was younger...and oddly enough, I'm drinking out of a coffee mug that has her and Marcy on it right now. And I had no clue fans stole the Abbey Road sign. I mean, we're all big fans, but would we really steal the sign? I wanted to write on the sign pretty bad though when I was there, but my friends and I just signed one of the crossing posts.

lol..it's pretty dumb really because you can buy miniture versions of the sign in a lot of tourist gift shops in London. They're much better. I managed to write my name on the sign. But that sign is probably sitting in someones bedroom now..lol I wanted to sign the abbey road wall too, but it seems like they dont want people doing that anymore. There was cameras everywhere and a security guard was nearby too. I wasn't gonna risk it.

I agree with Hannah and Emma. I think you should stay, you like the Beatles, and that's what and who this whole entire forum boils down to.
But I also agree that you shouldn't think that when we oppose your opinions that we are putting you as a person down or saying you shouldn't think that way. I never told you to like Paul or to love Rev. 9, but I think that when cetain statments like calling one of the Fab Four a 'bastard' in a Beatle forum, you should expect some oppostion and defense, I mean it's only natural, y'know? Some people have stronger feelings than you do for the lads, but I don't think you should put them down for that either.
Also personal blows to one another are harsh and really not necessary. Words tell more than smileys. And since the debate has two sides and neither of them knows anything about the person except what the public tells us and what other people perspectives of them are.
So I think everyone should just respect peoples' views, but also don't just say something that you know others will get upset with or annoyed with.
And when something's done, it's done. Let's just keep it that way.

Oh god damn. I missed something here.
I don't know what happened, but obviously there was a bit of... Meh.
I'm not going to bother. I don't want people to think we don't want guys at this forum, because really we want all the guys we can get.
I don't know why you would want to leave Kermit, or what the big disagreement was about, but I am more than happy for you to stay. It is a friendly place, just stick around and see.
And, I totally agree with you Emma, 100%. Because, Emma is the LIB goddess.

My god, I'm behind! Hi, I'm Lil. I'm 14. I love all the Beatles, but Ringo is it, "officially" That's over with. I don;t know you at all, aside from what I've read on this thread so far (pretty funny actually) but please stay. We won't scare you away, unless you make us dreadfully uncomfortable... but that's difficult, we're all "hardy little lasses" ;D
