Okay, I've read that Paul wrote this song about himself and Linda, but.... I don't believe him haha. To me, the lyrics seem like he's talking about John and himself. Am I the only one that feels this way? Maybe I just like to tell myself it's about Paul and John because well, that makes it just adorable. I think I'm too sentimental for my own good...
Two of us riding nowhere spending someone's hard earned pay You and me Sunday driving Not arriving on our way back home We're on our way back home We're on our way home We're going home
Two of us sending postcards writing letters on my wall You and me burning matches lifting latches on our way back home We're on our way back home We're on our way home We're going home
You and I have memories longer than the road that stretches out ahead
Two of us wearing raincoats standing solo in the sun You and me chasing paper getting nowhere on our way back home We're on our way back home We're on our way home We're going home
You and I have memories longer than the road that stretches out ahead
Two of us wearing raincoats standing solo in the sun You and me chasing paper getting nowhere on our way back home We're on our way back home We're on our way home We're going home We're going home

I've always thought it was about Paul and John...especially when Paul sings "You and I have memories longer than the road that stretches out ahead." That couldn't be about Linda...although I admire the woman, she wasn't in Paul's life for that long before the song was written.

I haven't heard it that many times because I'm honestly not very fond of Let it Be, but it's one of my favourite tracks and I thought it was about John too, like John when they were kids, "spending someone else's hard earned pay", and of course... "You and I have memories longer than the road that stretches out ahead" - Not only because he didn't have those with Linda, but actually it was the entire OPPOSITE with Linda - they had PLENTY of road. I think that they all knew the breakup was coming, and that's why the memories were longer than the rest of the road, and so Paul wrote a song about when he and John were... kids. I think it's adorable.

I agree completely, Cran. I mean, maybe it was also about Linda, but I think it was about John. Aww. *hugs Paul*

Yeah, I always assumed that song was about him and John... never read that it was about Linda. I guess it could be though. Haha, maybe Paul's embarassed, aww.

When I first heard it, I always thought it was about john and paul. but I think maybe it's both of them? like the writing postcards and driving nowhere bits are both like linda-ish, and the other bits seem john-ish.
